Wenn der "Hallelujah!"-Chor aus Händels Oratorium "Messias" erklingt, erhebt sich das Publikum in England. Das war bereits zu Lebzeiten Händels so, der in seiner Wahlheimat geradezu wie ein Star verehrt und gefeiert wurde. Und bis heute hat dieses Werk seine Faszination nicht eingebüßt. Dabei war man zuerst skeptisch und wollte die musikalische Darstellung des Lebens und Sterbens Jesu nicht in einem Theater aufführen, für zu profan hielt man den Ort für erhabene Musik. Aber Händel setzte sich durch und sein Plan ging auf. "Der Messias" brachte es zu nie gekanntem Erfolg und gehört bis heute zu den meistgespielten Oratorien überhaupt. Wir haben mit dem Dresdner Kammerchor und seinem Leiter Hans-Christoph Rademann ausgewiesene Barcok-Spezialisten eingeladen, das Werk gemeinsam mit uns aufzuführen.
