Best of Classic - DAS WIENER NEUJAHRSKONZERT

Waltz dreams float through the concert hall in the Kulturpalast and cheerfully ring in the new year in Dresden: The Győr Philharmonic Orchestra – one of the leading musical ensembles in Hungary with international renown – will perform at the Viennese New Year's Concert "Best of Classic" on Saturday, 9th January 2027. In the Viennese concert tradition, the 46-member ensemble, under the direction of Maestro Michael Waldemar Maciaszczyk, will present a festive programme in triple time featuring waltzes, polkas and lively earworms starting at 6:00 PM. With audible joy in playing and technical brilliance, the orchestra knows how to combine lightness and brilliance. This very mix has always characterised the famous Viennese New Year's Concerts. Well-known melodies invite one to dream and hum along. Over the years, the Győr Philharmonic Orchestra has written a true success story: As one of Hungary's significant cultural ensembles, it is present on the grand stages of Europe and in international demand. The musicians, along with their maestro, received special recognition through their collaboration with the legendary film composer Ennio Morricone and through their nomination as the resident orchestra for the Hungarian gala of the Operalia competition founded by Plácido Domingo. With the New Year's Concert "Best of Classic", the organisers in the Kulturpalast are continuing a great tradition: Since the late 1930s, the year's start has been celebrated in Vienna and far beyond with festive music. This custom has also established itself in Dresden in recent years, guiding audiences from near and far into the new year. Tickets for the Viennese New Year's Concert "Best of Classic" are available at all known advance booking offices. Children up to ten years pay only five euros when accompanied by an adult, and students up to 16 years receive a 50 percent discount. Best seat bookings are possible at: bestofclassic@web.de.
