Hahn — Vienna Philharmonic — Sokhiev

Hardly any sound body is as firmly connected to the history and tradition of European music as the Vienna Philharmonic. When this exceptional orchestra now travels to Dresden with Tugan Sokhiev at the helm - recently praised by the press as brilliant, serious, and highly musical - and the charismatic American violinist Hilary Hahn as a soloist, a true dream combination can be experienced at the Kulturpalast. The musicians have in their luggage two highlights of the romantic repertoire: Dvořák's Violin Concerto, with its unusually direct use of the violin for that time, already thrilled audiences at its premiere in 1883 - a showcase piece for the three-time Grammy winner Hahn. And how could this evening end better than with excerpts from Prokofiev's "Romeo and Juliet," one of the most significant ballets of all time, known for its enchanting melodic richness.
