Joja Wendt, born in 1964 in Hamburg, is considered one of the most successful German live pianists. With roots in early jazz and classical music, he entertains audiences worldwide with lovingly selected and arranged pieces from a broad musical repertoire. He studied in the Netherlands and New York, and his tours now take him from Europe to China. An evening with Joja Wendt guarantees extraordinary virtuosity and a highly diverse piano performance presented with a good dose of humor, charm, and charisma. His arrangements from Bach to Horowitz, the intuitive playing techniques of jazz, the vast field of pop music, and his own compositions are evidence of a wonderful musical freedom. This diversity once again highlights that excellently and authentically presented music excites people – regardless of whether there is a U or E in front of it. In addition to numerous awards, Joja Wendt has received the Louis Armstrong Prize and the German Blues Award (2025).
